The Rare Cancer Project in the EURACAN 2017 meeting in Lyon

After 12 months of hard work by all 66 healthcare providers who applied, a EURACAN kick off meeting was held in Lyon on 21st-22nd April 2017.

In response to the European Commission call for European Reference Networks (ERN) for Rare diseases, EURACAN (ERN for adult rare solid cancers), headed by Professor Jean Yves Blay from the Centre leon benard, Lyon France open the call for participating hospitals to join the network with the key objective to increase and facilitate the access of rare cancer patients to expert centers, information, treatment options and better and safer healthcare.

The Rare Cancer Project was represented at the kick off meeting by Prof Bass Hassan and Sian Davies who had the opportunity to present the Rare Cancer Project initiative to representatives of the ERN centres from across Europe as well as to discuss sustainability and financial pressures the network currently faces.
